The Principal District Judge (in-charge) R. Poornima on Friday suspended the Chief Judicial Magistrate court’s sentence of one-year imprisonment each for three persons of Joseph Eye Hospital, including its director, in the botched eye surgeries case in which 66 villagers lost their vision.
Hospital director Nelson Jesudasan, medical superintendent and Chief Administrative Officer Christopher Thomas and senior ophthalmologist Dr. Ashok were remanded in judicial custody and lodged in the Central Prison here following the conviction on Wednesday.
The sentence has been suspended pending disposal of the appeal. The three were released on bail on producing sureties, sources said.
