The Cooptex has set a sales target of Rs.4.05 crore for the three showrooms in the district during this Deepavali and has already collected adequate stock of handloom and silk textiles, and sarees to meet the demand.
The three cooptex showrooms – Pothigai at junction, Amuthasurabhi on Theradikadai street, and BHEL showroom – achieved a sales target of Rs.1.73 crore during Deepavali last year against a target of Rs.2.18 crore.
The Cooptex has organised Deepavali special exhibition in all the three showrooms and Collector Jayashree Muralidharan declared the exhibition open at a brief function held at the Pothigai showroom. The sales target for the Pothigai showroom is Rs. 2.56 crore and it managed to market Rs.1.16 crore worth of textiles and sarees during the last Deepavali season.

To attract the women, the Cooptex for this season has displayed 300 new varieties of weightless marutham soft silk sarees. The eye catching kora cotton saree varieties made by the weavers of Coimbatore and Madurai, and the cheap rate cotton sarees of Aruppukottai, Paramakudi, Woraiyur, Salem and Negamam are expected to be in good demand.
The bed spreads, bed sheets, wind screens, towels, women cotton chudhidars, and readymade garments have also been specially procured from the weavers from all over the State . A discount of 30 per cent is offered for this Deepavali, according to a press release from S. Ramachandran, regional manager of the Cooptex.
The Cooptex has also introduced a special ‘Kanavu Nanavu thittam’, a monthly saving scheme for purchasing pure silk sarees. People can invest through monthly instalments from Rs.100 onwards for nine months.

The Cooptex will pay the 10th instalment and at the end of the 10th month, the scheme reaps 58 per cent additional benefit on the savings. The scheme is applicable on all products ranging from kerchief to silk sarees.
