Reinvent locks to jazz up looks

September 14, 2011 10:46 am | Updated 10:47 am IST - TIRUCHI:

“Pick it up, curl it and tuck in,” and voila - an intricate yet elegant cluster of curls materialises in no time. Few can make bridal hairstyles look effortlessly easy like beauty expert Blossom Kochchar.

In the city on Tuesday for an educational seminar on hair dressing and make-up, Ms.Kochchar, a luminary in the beauty industry and the brain behind Aromamagic products held around 200 beauticians from all over Tamil Nadu in a trance as she worked her magic on manes in a matter of minutes.

The founder of Blossom Kochchar group of companies and a pioneer in incorporating aromatherapy in the cosmetic industry, Ms. Kochchar was in her element as she urged beauticians from tier two and tier three cities like Madurai, Salem, Pudukottai, Pollachi to reinvent hair and make-up styles this winter.

“Let's try different styles this season. Steer off the usual which is boring,” she said demonstrating various hairdressing and treatment services, greeted by much applause. For a fitting hairstyle for a modern bride with short hair, she curled and tucked in strands with bob pins for a cluster of pretty curls atop a ready made four strand braid.

Keep it simple, was the mantra at the seminar, with Ms.Kochhar advocating that even bridal looks be natural and fresh. Placing emphasis on bare minimum looks, she said more would be less this winter with the radiant nude look being in. Demonstrating a model attired like a bride, she displayed that little strokes of mascara, lipstick and blush can transform a woman, stressing that beauticians make the most of a natural complexion.

It was the nuances that made the session remarkable for participants. “If you are going for dark eye-make, then lips should be a shade lighter. But if eyes are done up light, then lips should be a shade darker,” she dispensed valuable advice throwing in tips like the radiant glow that gold dust can achieve and suggesting that lipsticks are handier if stored in children's paint boxes. A chocolate hair spa for soft glowing hair, spa facial and under eye treatment using Aromamagic products were among the other services demonstrated. Shanwaz, founder, Hi-Tech institute of hair and beauty welcomed the gathering.
