Rain lashes central districts

After a sunny Sunday that received an average rainfall of 4 mm, heavy rains lashed through Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, and Sirkazhi.

Heavy rain and thunderstorm lashed the district from dawn here on Monday. After a sunny Sunday that received an average rainfall of 4 mm, heavy rains lashed through Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, and Sirkazhi.

However, Vedaranyam witnessed mild showers bringing little respite to the water-starved farmlands.

Various parts of Tiruvarur district experienced sharp intermittent showers from the break of dawn till late evening hours, paralysing normal life .

Perambalur, Valikandapuram, Padalur and other parts of Perambalur district received widespread rainfall on Monday evening. Various parts of Ariyalur district also experienced rainfall in the evening.

Tiruchi city and other parts of the district received widespread intermittent showers in the evening, after a clear sky in the morning session. The sky remained overcast throughout the evening session.

The flooding of Thanjavur road in the city affected the free flow of the traffic.
