Public service centres opened at taluk offices

Residents can now get all government certificates at these centres

T.P.Poonatchi, Minister for Khadi and Village Industries, handing over a certificate to an applicant after inaugurating the service centre of the TN Arasu Cable TV Corporation at the Srirangam Taluk Office on Tuesday.

Public service centres set up by the Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Corporation at the taluk offices in the district for offering various services under the e-governance project became functional on Tuesday.

The e-governance project has already been implemented in the district through the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies and HOPE centres of the Tiruchi Corporation in the district. Residents in the taluks could get essential certificates such as community, income, nativity, first-generation graduate, and widow certificates through the centres.

The service centres of the Arasu Cable TV Corporation would be in addition to the already functioning centres.

On Tuesday, T.P.Poonatchi, Minister for Khadi and Village Industries, inaugurated the service centre at the Srirangam Taluk office in the presence of R.Manoharan, Government Chief Whip, and District Collector K.S.Palanisamy. According to an official release, the ELCOT has set up such service centre at 18 taluks and the Arasu Cable TV Corporation was already running such centres in 12 taluks in the State. Similar service centres have now been set up by the Arasu Cable TV Corporation in the remaining 224 taluks.

Apart from availing the services of the Revenue and other government departments, beneficiaries could also apply for various schemes such as the Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Memorial Marriage Assistance Scheme, Chief Minister’s Girl Child Protection Scheme, Dr.Muthulakshmi Reddy Memorial Inter-caste Marriage Assistance Scheme, Dr.Dharmambal Ammaiyar Memorial widow remarriage scheme and Mother Teresa Memorial Destitute Women assistance scheme.
