A variety of colourful clothes and jewellery from throughout the country are on offer at the Deepavali Dress and Jewellery Exhibition at Poompuhar showroom in the city.
An array of Madurai Sangudi saris, silk, fancy, and cotton saris, Rajasthan, Jaipur cotton and bathik printed chudhidhars, ghagra choli, Lucknow chikankari dresses, embroidery work dresses, tops and skirts in printed cotton, nighties, tablecloths, bedspreads, razai, quilt, handbags, scarves, shawls, and dress material at the exhibition.
The price range for the textiles ranges from Rs. 100 to Rs. 16,000.

The special attractions of the exhibition include textiles with kantha work, dokra work, Orissa appliqué work, zari, and handmade weaves.
“For the first time in Tiruchi we have introduced kadar shirts for men,” said V.Ganesan, manager, Poompuhar.
In the jewellery section, striking imitation jewellery were available in eye-catching colours, and designs. Their variable price range caters to all kinds of budgets and they can be a fashionable purchase to match the colour of the outfit for women.

On display are 1 gram gold bangle sets and 1 gm gold necklace, pearl sets, crystal chains, iympon kolusu, studs, earrings, rings, American diamond necklaces, and temple jewellery.
One can opt for natural stone and birthstone jewels, onyx chains, and semi precious stone chains in a plethora of colours.
The jewellery was priced between Rs. 150 and Rs. 8,000.
The 1 gm jewellery had a six-month guarantee and can be re-polished, according to Mr. Ganesan. Poompuhar expects sales of Rs. 5 lakh from the exhibition.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Revathi Muthuswamy, founder, Srirangam Bhrarathanatyalaya, on Thursday.
The 15-day exhibition is on till October 31, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on all days, including Sundays.
There is a 10 per cent discount on the textiles and jewellery.
