Tension prevailed in Kumbakonam on Wednesday, when DMK cadre, led by their town secretary, Suba.Thamizhazhgan, attempted to stage a road roko protesting non-removal of AIADMK party flags on Uppukara Street.

Earlier, the DMK functionary lodged a complaint with Assistant Returning Officer, Mayiladuthurai Parliamentary constituency, and Revenue Divisional Officer Veerasamy.

Due to delay in removal, the DMK cadre gathered on Uppukara Street and attempted to remove the flags, which led to a wordy duel between cadre of the two parties.
