Tamil Nadu Retired Government Employees Association urged the State government to do away with the new pension policy and continue with the old policy in the interest of pensioners.

A resolution to this effect was adopted at the pensioners’ day meeting held here recently.

Another resolution demanded the government to hike monthly medical allowance to pensioners to Rs.500. The meeting also pleaded for hike in the family protection fund to Rs.1.50 lakh, and to nationalise all the rivers in the country. Yet another resolution opposed foreign direct investment in retail trade. G. Nammazhwar, farm scientist, delivered an address on ‘sharing water of the rivers and Tamil Nadu’.
