P. Ravi is AAP candidate for Tiruchi

The Aam Aadmi Party has nominated P.Ravi as its candidate for the Tiruchi Lok Sabha constituency.

Sixty-year-old Mr.Ravi is a postgraduate and M.Phil in Tamil Literature. A pattimandram speaker and a social activist, Mr.Ravi, who hails from Thiruvanaikovil, says he has also worked as a journalist for a vernacular newspaper in the city.

Though Mr.Ravi joined the party just about a month back, he is no stranger to elections having contested three Lok Sabha polls as Independent since 2001. In the 2001 by-election, Mr.Ravi polled as many as 16,417 votes to finish third behind Dalit Ezhilmalai of the AIADMK and M.N.Sukumar of the BJP. In 2004, he polled 7,831 votes and in the previous election in 2009, he tallied 5,016 votes.

Meanwhile, the party has invited suggestions from the public on development programmes that need to be taken up in the Tiruchi Lok Sabha constituency for improving the livelihood and economic status of the people. Suggestions could be conveyed to the party members till noon on March 30 by dialling 8190927172, N.Krishna, district secretary, Aam Aadmi party, said in a press release. The suggestions would be discussed at a meeting of the district executive committee to be held on Sunday evening and incorporated in the party manifesto with the approval of the party leaders. The party is committed to withdraw its elected representatives if they are not able to fulfil the election promises, he added.
