Provident Fund code numbers would be allotted to establishments within three working days from the date of receipt of applications from them, the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has announced. Allotment of EPF registration numbers for establishments (code numbers) is an administrative arrangement to identify the establishments and facilitate compliance of statutory provisions. The EPFO has issued fresh guidelines for allotment of PF code numbers as per which the numbers are to be allotted within three days.
The coverage application, to be submitted by an employer for the purpose of coverage, has also been re-designed. Stipulated information and documents such as copies of PAN cards, proof of address and bank pass books have to be submitted along with the application. All pages of documents submitted by the establishments along with the application should be self-attested by the employer, G.Sivakumar, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, Tiruchi, said in a press release.
