The new economic policies of the Centre are to blame for the current plight of the ailing Hindustan Photo Films (HPF) manufacturing company, near here, said R. Muthu Sundaram, general secretary, All India State Government Employees Federation (AISGEF).
He was addressing a public meeting organised under the aegis of the Federation of Central and State Government, Public and Private Sector Employees Associations, here on Wednesday.
Recalling that former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had promoted public sector enterprises for the welfare of the nation and its people, he said that many of them had been hit badly by liberalisation.

Revival
Adverting to the ongoing struggle of the employees of HPF for payment of salaries and revival of the company, Mr. Sundaram urged the people to view it as a problem concerning the entire district. Stating that the public meeting was only the beginning , Mr. Sundaram said that the issue would be taken to various parts of the district.
President of the federation H.E. Sanjeeviraj presided. L. Thiagarajan of CITU, R. Karunakaran, president, Tamil Nadu Government Employees Association and Moses Manoharan, secretary, Save HPF Committee, also spoke.
