Parts of Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Ariyalur districts received moderate rainfall on Monday evening.
A few places recorded heavy rainfall. Papanasam recorded the maximum rainfall of 140 mm during the 24-hour period ending at 8.30 a.m. on Tuesday.
Valangaiman and Nannilam in Tiruvarur district recorded 80 mm and 70 mm of rainfall respectively.

R.Ayyaru (55), a farmer, who stepped on a live over head power line which had snapped and lying on ground, was electrocuted at Thurumbur near Papanasam on Tuesday when he visited his field and stepped on the power line there.
Cotton growers in Kumbakonam and Papanasam areas were worried that the crop at the flowering stage would be affected by the rain.

Kumbakonam 37; Lower Anicut 28.80; Thiruvidaimaruthur 27.20; Ayyampettai 14 and Manjalaru 8.20.
Nagapattinam district received some scattered rainfall on Monday night with Tirupoondi recording 50.40 mm followed by Nagapattinam 34.60 mm, Sirkazhi 24.40 mm, Talaignayiru 14.80 mm, Manalmedu 12 mm, Kollidam 11 mm and Mayiladuthurai 10.20 mm.
Gusty winds accompanied moderate showers in Ariyalur on Monday evening with the town recording 49 mm of rainfall.
Jayamkondam recorded 25 mm and Thirumanur 30 mm of rainfall during the 24-hour period ending at 8.30 a.m. on Tuesday.
