Minister pays surprise visit to Srirangam Government Hospital

K.C. Veeramani, Health Minister, on Friday conducted surprise inspection of the Government Hospital, Srirangam, and made enquiries with the patients on the treatment being provided. He was accompanied by T.P. Poonachi, Minister for Khadi and Village Industries.

Mr. Veeramani, on his maiden visit to the district after assuming charge recently, visited the children’s ward, maternity ward, ward No. 500 for treating the people under the Chief Minister’s Extended Health Insurance Scheme, out-patient ward, and heard the grievances of the people. He inspected the medicines provided to the patients.

Work on the construction of labour wad, operation theatre, and a new 30-bed ward is in progress at a cost of Rs. 2.15 crore. The Ministers inspected the construction work.

Later, Mr. Veeramani inspected the Mahatma Gandhi Government Headquarters Hospital in the city, government hospital at Kulithalai, primary health centre at Kuzhumani, and primary health sub-centre at Anthanallur. He held discussions with the heads of the various departments of the Government K.A. P. Viswanatham Medical College. Kumar Jayanth, Project Director, Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society, Jayashree Muralidharan, Collector, R.Manoharan, government whip, and N.R.Sivapathi, former minister, accompanied the Minister.
