Medical services to be suspended today

All medical services with the exception of emergency care procedures and surgeries in government treating facilities in the district will be suspended on Wednesday as part of the State-wide protest against the murder of a doctor in Tuticorin.

Members of the Tiruchi chapter of the Tamil Nadu Government Doctors Association would boycott all outpatient services and elective surgeries to register their protest against the murder of Dr.Sethulakshmi at a private hospital in Tuticorin.

The protest in Tiruchi would be staged by postgraduate students in service and doctors from K.A.P.Viswanatham Medical College, Manapparai district headquarters hospital, ESI hospitals, taluk hospitals and primary health care centres. Private medical practitioners and the Indian Medical Association will close clinics on Thursday.
