A 30-year-old man was allegedly kidnapped by a four-member gang from his house at Inam Samayapuram and murdered a few days ago.
After committing the crime, the culprits reportedly buried the body at Kalpalayam village near Manachanallur.
As the body was found to be partially buried, the locals who noticed it on Saturday immediately alerted the police.

After exhuming the body from the spot on Sunday in the presence of revenue officials, the police established the identity of the victim as K. Kadafi Raja alias Periyanan (30) from Inam Samayapuram.
Police sources said Kadafi Raja was kidnapped on Thursday from his house at Inam Samayapuram after he allegedly took away cash and a liquor bottle from a person by name Mayavel in a liquor bar at Kollidam toll gate a few days ago.
Irked over this, Mayavel, Anand, Shanmugam and Ambikapathy are said to have gone to Raja’s house and allegedly kidnapped him. The sources said the accused took Raja to Kalpalayam village where they allegedly threw a boulder on him and killed him, and escaped from the spot. As Raja did not return home, a complaint was lodged to the Samayapuram police, who initially booked a kidnap case.

Consequent to the exhumation of the body, the police altered it as a case of murder and arrested Anand, Mayavel and Shanmugam. They are on the look-out for Ambikapathy, who is on the run.
