A Tiruchi-based candidate has secured an all-India rank (AIR) in Electrical Engineering in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2013 examinations conducted in in February. The candidate Harish Sudhakaran Nair, a student of GATEFORUM, secured AIR 861. For Electrical Engineering, 16.63 per cent of the 1,52,381 candidates qualified this year.
Other streams constituted Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Biotechnology. Since 14 top public sector undertakings are recruiting graduate engineers through GATE, 9.84 lakh candidates appeared for the examination in 2013 compared to 6.86 in the previous year, Aditya Reddy, Director, GATEFORUM, said in a release.
To facilitate students who have qualified in the examination, the GATEFORUM conducted a live session on post-GATE admission process on Thursday. Students can register free and access the live session on Friday (March 21) on the Internet: www.gateforum.com, the release said.
