List of beneficiaries placed for approval

Grama sabha meetings held in village panchayats across the district on Friday discussed the development works to be taken up in the respective villages.

The list of beneficiaries selected under some of the schemes such as the Indira Awas Yojana was placed before the grama sabhas for their approval.

Total sanitation

At the grama sabha meeting at Keezhakurichi, chaired by president P.Kavitha, a resolution was adopted to eradicate open defecation and full implementation of the total sanitation programme in the village.

The meeting resolved to form a committee to identify flood prone areas and initiate preventive measures during the monsoon.

It also decided to ensure chlorination of the drinking water supplied through the overhead tank in the village.

The grama sabhas, which were held in all the 404 village panchayats, also took on record the annual expenditure accounts of the panchayats.
