Legal Aid Clinic opened at Tamil Nadu National Law School

The clinic would function every Wednesday between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. and manned by a paralegal volunteer trained in basic laws and a lawyer with skills to negotiate an amicable settlement of disputes.

A legal aid clinic to provide basic legal services to public free of cost has been opened at the Tamil Nadu National Law School in Navalur Kuttapattu on the city’s outskirts. This is the 13th clinic established by the District Legal Services Authority in the district.

The clinic would function every Wednesday between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. and manned by a paralegal volunteer trained in basic laws and a lawyer with skills to negotiate an amicable settlement of disputes.

In addition to providing advice to those seeking legal assistance, the paralegal would assist public in drafting petitions, representations or notices, and in filling up application forms to enable them avail benefits under various government schemes.

Justice M. Jaichandran, Judge, Madras High Court, inaugurated the clinic on Tuesday in the presence of Principal District and Sessions Judge P. Velmurugan, Tamil Nadu National Law School, Vice Chancellor Prof. N. Marimuthu and Tiruchi Bar Association members.
