ITBP conducts flag march

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) on Tuesday conducted a flag march and area domination exercise near Tiruverumbur on the outskirts of the city.

The exercise was carried out jointly with Tiruchi Rural Police to instil confidence among the general public to exercise their franchise without any fear on election day.

Police sources said around 60 armed ITBP personnel, along with 90 Tiruchi Rural Police personnel, began the march from Tiruverumbur police station limits. Led by Superintendent of Police Ziaul Haque, the march covered Manjathidal, Kattur bazaar area and Pappakurichi Road before culminating at Kattur bazaar area.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Dongre Pravin Umesh, Inspectors of Police and Armed Reserve personnel participated.

The sources said the ITBP personnel would carry out similar exercises in Lalgudi, Kallakudi, Samayapuram, Musiri, Kattuputhur, Thuraiyur, Jeeyapuram and Somarasampet.
