“Instil entrepreneurial spirit in students’ minds”

Governor K.Rosaiah on Thursday called upon educational institutions to foster entrepreneurship among students.

Delivering the Graduation Day address at Srimad Andavan Arts and Science College here on Thursday, he said there was a need to develop entrepreneurship on a priority basis. There was also a need to channelize youth and women power of the country to accelerate industrial growth in the country. They had to be motivated and guided to help start small or micro enterprises. The youths should be nurtured with the job-provider mindset.

Stating that herbal industry was growing up fast, Mr. Rosaiah said traditional system of medicine have been getting significant attention globally. Hence, research in herbal medicine should be taken up extensively to create a standard system for using herbal medicine. Attention should be made to bring out the forgotten benefits of traditional systems of medicines such as Ayurveda and Siddha.

Touching upon the country’s rich heritage, culture and tradition, he said the country needed its youth to be its cultural ambassadors. Wherever they were, they should carry the rich legacy of the nation. The students should be dynamic, pragmatic in approach, sincere and must have the determination to achieve success in life. Noble values of caring and sharing, service and sacrifice had always kept the society vibrant; the students should cultivate such values, he said. Mr.Rosaiah said more steps should be made to take education to the unreached. It should bring about empowerment of women.

He lauded the college management for adopting two villages and on its initiative to prevent dropouts in schools. R.Rajagopal, Chairman, National Executive Committee, Andavan Ashram, N.Kasturirangan, secretary, Board of Trustees, and J.Radhika, Principal, spoke.
