A. Amalraj, Deputy Inspector-General of Police (Tiruchi Range), has placed under suspension a police inspector, a sub-inspector and a constable in connection with the missing of a service revolver from Karambakudi police station in the district recently.

The names of the suspended personnel were given as police inspector A. Arumugam, sub-inspector Kanagavalli, and writer Kasthuri.

Although Mr. Arumugam is the Station House Officer of Sendurai police station in Ariyalur district, he was the inspector of Karambakudi police station when the weapon went missing.

The three were suspended for failing in their responsibility to keep the weapon safe, said Mr. Amalraj.

They failed to convey the information immediately to the higher ups. The three have been directed to locate the missing revolver, he said.

The empty revolver supplied to the Karambakudi police station was reported missing during periodic check of arms by an officer attached to the Armourer section of the District Armed Reserve Police a few days ago.
