Children in Pudukottai town now have a new, innovative park to play.
The park, located on Sathyamoorthy Road was inaugurated by Health Minister C. Vijayabaskar on Thursday.
The municipality has utilised ₹80 lakh sanctioned under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation scheme to construct recreational facilities, including 3 dimensional structures and a walking track, and other amenities for local residents.

Speaking at the inauguration, Mr. Vijayabaskar said 18 such parks had been set up in Pudukottai in the last three years.
“The children's park has rubber flooring to ensure that children do not get hurt. The park also features attractive lights, paintings and 3D trees, fountains which would be a great opportunity for them to take photographs," he said.
The park also features stepping stones set in the shape of '8' where adults, especially those with knee and feet ailments can walk.

"This park has something for everyone. The public can utilise it as a hub for stress relief," Mr. Vijayabaskar said.
Municipal Commissioner J. Subramanian said the park was designed and installed by artisans from Kerala. “They designed realistic largescale imitations of trees, fruits, and other images, all in concrete. In fact, the swing and slide set in the park have been made to look like they were built from a single tree’s bark, but they are actually concrete. It gives the park a colourful and unique look.”
Apart from a children's play area, the park is also fitted with an artificial water fountain, a walking track, LED lights, and uniquely shaped benches and flower pots. Drinking water facility and CCTV cameras are also installed.
