Indoor stadium likely to beat deadline

Works on the construction of a multipurpose indoor stadium in Srirangam (near Yatri Nivas) has been progressing ahead of schedule, according to sources.

The works, which began in March, though scheduled to be completed next January may be over in two months time. The facility is being established at a cost of Rs. 4.12 crore with funding from the State government. The indoor stadium with a play area of 35 meter length and 22 meter width will have wooden flooring. The other facilities in the stadium include gallery, office room, dressing rooms for sportspersons, and rooms for coaches.

The stadium can host a range of sports including volleyball, badminton, and table tennis with a capacity to accommodate 300 spectators. The facility will give thrust to sporting activities.
