A headmaster of an aided school near Sembanarkovil in Nagapattinam district was arrested on Tuesday on the charge of sexually harassing a minor girl student of the institution recently.
The police action against the headmaster, K. Manikandan (40), followed after the minor girl’s relatives assembled in front of the school on Tuesday condemning the alleged act of the headmaster.
The headmaster’s father Kumarasamy is the correspondent of the same school.

According to police, the headmaster, a post graduate degree holder, had sexually harassed a tenth standard girl student on the school campus recently. The girl apparently informed her parents regarding the incident.
Police, revenue and education department officials held talks with the agitators assuring them of appropriate action against the headmaster.
Later, a complaint was preferred by the girl’s father to the Sembanarkoil police station where a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 was registered against Manikandan.

The headmaster was arrested based on the complaint, said police sources.
