N. Santosh Hegde, former Judge of the Supreme Court, and a member of the core group of anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare, on Friday rated the performance of the 49-day Aam Aadmi Party government in New Delhi as “very poor”.
Speaking on the sidelines of ‘Crossfire 2014’, a panel discussion on the role of youth in politics, organised as part of Pragyan, the annual technical fest of the National Institute of Technology-Tiruchi, on Friday, the former Lokayukta of Karnataka said Arvind Kejriwal and his colleagues had failed to understand and respect the constitutionally and legally acceptable ways of redressing government-to-government issues.
Mr. Hegde slammed the Centre for bifurcating Andhra Pradesh and criticised the legislators of the region of Telangana for lack of development. “The development of a region is the responsibility of the elected representatives of the region and bifurcating or dividing States cannot be the answer to the question of development. If the citizen has to run to the capital of the State, then what is the use of district and taluk administrations?

“If the argument is taken to its logical end then every district in the country would need a Prime Minister,” he said.
