The three-day cultural contest organised by Kalai Kaviri College of Fine Arts evoked good response from students and artistes from different parts of the district.
Events were allotted to college students on the first day, to non-teaching, teaching staff and employees of schools on the second day, and to all artistes on the last day (Friday).
The students displayed their talent in composing, folk dance, key-board, orchestra and classical music. The event, first of its kind, evoked such an overwhelming response that the college has planned to organise it as an annual feature, said P.Natarajan, Principal.

Students from about 15 colleges vied with one another in exhibiting their talents and the overall shield went to Cauvery College for Women. Noted drama artiste, Tiruchi George, and R. Gunasekaran, Deputy Director of Arts and Culture, gave away shields and prizes to the winners. They said the contest would act as a catalyst to promote talents of artistes and musicians. Fr. G. Sahayaraja, secretary of the college, said that the events brought to the fore talents of not only youths but senior citizens of remote areas also. The future events would offer opportunities to a larger number of artistes and students, he said.
