The State government has issued an order for implementation of water supply improvement scheme to the newly-added areas of Tiruchirapalli City Corporation with the financial assistance of the German Development Bank. It will benefit a population of about 88,000. The project is planned to meet the requirement of projected population in 2013.

As per the project, a new source will be created in the Cauvery between Kambarasampettai Head Works and first Collector well for Combined Water Supply Scheme to Ramanathapuram. The existing Collector well for Golden Rock will be utilised as an additional source after rehabilitation. Three vertical turbine pump sets of 150 Horse Power will be created near Ganapathy Nagar. The yield will be about 6 MLD.
