Four test positive for dengue

Four persons who have been admitted at the Thanjavur Medical College hospital here with fever, have tested positive for dengue, according to Dean Kumudha Lingaraj.

Disclosing this to reporters after visiting the special ward created at the hospital for treating fever cases, the Dean said a total of 28 persons were admitted at the hospital for treatment for prolonged fever and out of them four – two men and two women – tested positive for dengue.

The dengue patients were under the round-the-clock observation by a special team of doctors and were moved to an isolation ward, she added.

Awareness drive

A surprise check was carried out at localities in Manakarambai panchayat in Thanjavur Panchayat Union on Wednesday to determine the awareness level of the public to eradicate dengue.

District Collector A. Annadurai who led a team of officials urged the public to ensure that pots or other containers in the open are kept closed to prevent breeding of aedes mosquitoes.

The Collector who was on a tour to inspect ‘kudimaramathu’ works in the Panchayat Union conducted the exercise all of a sudden.
