The Assembly Estimates Committee on Friday reviewed the progress of various development programmes taken up by the Agriculture, Adi Dravidar Welfare and School Education departments in the district and the Tiruchi Corporation in the city on Friday.
The committee, headed by P.G.Narayanan, also inspected various facilities and institutions in the district as part of the review. They visited Agriculture Department’s testing and bio-fertilizer production labs at Mannarpuram and reviewed their functions. At the Periyar E.V.R.College, the committee members enquired with the principal and other faculty on the infrastructure requirements of the college. They asked the principal to submit their demands in writing for the committee to follow up.
Inspecting the Corporation High School at K.K.Nagar, they directed the Corporation to immediately repair the damaged portion of the compound wall. The committee also inspected the Adi Dravidar Welfare School at Periya Milaguparai and checked the quality of noon meal supplied there.

Committee members Thanga Tamilselvan, S.Kamaraj, Dhansingh, Pappa Sundaram and T.Indira Gandhi were among those present. Collector Jayashree Muralidharan accompanied the committee members and briefed on the progress of various development programmes.
Later in the day, the committee held a meeting with senior officials of the departments to review the implementation of their programmes.
