“Enforce model code impartially”

Police officials should enforce the model code of conduct impartially and should register cases on violations immediately and forward reports about the same, said Balkar Singh, General Observer for the Srirangam byelection, here on Monday.

Speaking at meeting with zonal officers to be deployed for the bypoll, Mr.Singh said special attention should be paid to sensitive booths. Permission for public meetings and use of vehicles for candidates should be given quickly.

Officials in flying squads should wear name badges while conducting vehicle checks and behave in a courteous manner with those travelling in the vehicles. Registers on vehicles checked should be maintained properly.

Election officers should be immediately informed about seizures of cash or other valuables, he said.

District Collector K.S.Palanisamy and City Police Commissioner Sanjay Mathur attended the meeting.
