Young school students are learning the basics of drawing, free of cost, at the summer camp on drawing being held at the meting hall in Kalairanagam Complex in the city.
The five-day camp is being organised by the Tiruchi district welfare committee for schoolchildren from classes 5 to 10 in the district from Monday. The participants will receive a certificate at the end of the camp.
The camp is training children on drawing and origami, daily from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. It will have experts in drawing and painting, origami and handicrafts from various institutes, who will train the children.

The schoolchildren are being taught basics of drawing, painting, crayon colouring, pencil shading, and origami during the camp. They are learning how to make creative art using wastepaper.
The material required for the summer camp, which include paper, pencils, crayons, and paints, are being supplied to the students free of cost by the organisers. In addition, special training on handicrafts is being provided to the mothers of the children as they wait for their wards’ classes to finish.
Over 200 children are taking part in the camp this year. The yearly camp is a much loved summer activity for the children in the district and witnesses participation in large numbers. Last year, there were 80 children, said an official.
