DMDK MLA tries to observe fast

Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam MLA Arul Selvan representing the Mayiladuthurai Assembly constituency was arrested along with few others after they attempted to observe a fast in Mayiladuthurai town in support of their demands.

The MLA wanted Mayiladuthurai to be bifurcated from Nagapattinam district and made a separate district. He also sought a ring road for Mayiladuthurai and the establishment of a new bus stand. Police sources said Mr. Arul Selvan came along with 36 others to observe fast. Those arrested were later released in the evening.

Upon release, Mr. Arul Selvan went on a fast again, this time in front of the municipal office.
