Differently abled in Tiruchi get appointment orders from hotels

Twenty four differently abled persons from the district have been chosen to work in private hotels in Tiruchi, Madurai and Pollachi as staff of kitchen and housekeeping sections.

The persons received their appointment order from Jayashree Muralitharan, Collector, at the grievances day meeting on Monday, in the presence of K. Karunakara Pandiyan, district differently abled welfare officer, A. Kalaiselvan, junior employment officer and G.Viswanathan, secretary, Oxford Catering and Hotel Management Industrial School.

The group of 24 includes 12 physically challenged and 12 hearing impaired persons who recently completed a two-month course in Oxford Catering and Hotel Management Industrial School. The students, who hail from different parts of Tiruchi district, underwent the training on scholarship under the modular employment scheme of the government, according to P.Bhaskaran, principal of the school.

There are 20 men and four women in the group of 24. They have been chosen to join as assistant cooks and assistant house men and house women in the hotels. Three of them have been placed in Hotel Saratha Rajans, Madurai; seven in Hotel Temple Inn, Tiruchi; six in Vallalar Catering Service, Tiruchi and eight in Great Mount resort, Pollachi.
