Complete all works before December: Tiruchi Mayor

Mayor A. Jaya has instructed Corporation officials to complete all ongoing development works taken up under the Integrated Urban Development Scheme and the Corporation general fund before the end of December.

Speaking at a meeting to review the progress of development works in the city on Wednesday, Ms.Jaya said all the works sanctioned at an estimate of Rs.30 crore from the Corporation general fund should be completed by the end of this month.

Similarly, works sanctioned at a cost of Rs.17 crore under the Integrated Urban Development Scheme in five new wards in the city should also be completed before the end of this year.

She also urged the Corporation officials to complete all arrangements for Vaikunda Ekadasi festival of the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in Srirangam within the specified time. She also told the officials to raise public awareness and strictly enforce the ban on the use of non degradable plastics.

Ms.Jaya also reviewed the progress of the ongoing works on the Rs.221 crore drinking water supply augmentation for the city.

V.P.Thandapani, Corporation Commissioner, S.Raja Mohamed, City Engineer, and R.Chandran and S.Arunachalam, Executive Engineers, attended the meeting.
