Committee on PSUs reviews work

8.6 lakh units and Rs. 32.16 lakh can be saved each year through the facility

The power sub-station at Pennakonam near Perambalur will reduce transmission losses substantially and improve quality of power, members of the standing committee on Public Sector Undertakings were told here on Friday.

Led by P.G.Narayanan, chairman, the committee inspected the progress of sub-station work at the village. Valarmathi, Superintending Engineer, Tangedco, informed the committee that the 33 / 11 KV capacity sub-station was being built at a cost of Rs.2.52 crore.

The new sub-station would help avoid transmission loss to the extent of 8.6 lakh units and save Rs. 32.16 lakh each year in revenue.

An estimated 10,000 consumers would get quality and uninterrupted power. Earlier, the committee members visited the public sector sugar mills at Eraiyur and listened to the grievances of farmers. At the Government Headquarters Hospital, the committee members inspected the scan unit.

The committee members also inspected the photo exhibition set up by the State Information and Public Relations Department and rainwater harvesting information centre.

Later in the evening, Mr.Narayanan and other members participated in a review meeting at the collectorate and gave away e-certificates to a few beneficiaries.
