Canara Bank adopts a village

Canara Bank has adopted Kodiyalam Pulivalam village in Andhanallur block near here under its village adoption programme. About Rs. 15 lakh will be spent for providing basic amenities, including cement roads and solar lamps.

Inaugurating the programme at the village on Monday, Mythili Krishnamoorthy, Chief General Manager of Canara Bank, Head Office, Bangalore, said training would be imparted to women in vocations including tailoring for their empowerment. S. Krishna Kumar, General Manager, Canara Bank, Tiruchi Circle, said the village accounted for about 300 houses. Ms. Krishnamoorthy inaugurated the free health and eye camp organised in the city. In all, 100 persons were screened for general health check-up and for eye ailments. The camp was co-sponsored by the Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Joseph Eye Hospital.

The official inaugurated a day-long exhibition on “financial planning”. The exhibition aimed at popularising the advantages of insurance, mutual fund, and non-life insurance to benefit the masses.

Various agencies including Canara Robecco, United India Insurance Limited, UTI, Appollo Munich, and Canara Bank had set up stalls on savings deposits, term deposits, and SIP products to guide customers on investment plans.
