Brothers murdered in land dispute

N. Arumugam (60) and his younger brother N. Tirupathi (50) were murdered with sharp weapons by R. Kanagaraj (55), D. Madhubalan (33) and Durairaj.

A dispute over a piece of poromboke land ended in murder of brothers at Keezhavangaram village near Siruganur on Wednesday.

N. Arumugam (60) and his younger brother N. Tirupathi (50) died on the spot in the attack. The police have detained the accused R. Kanagaraj (55), D. Madhubalan (33) and Durairaj.

Sources said Kanagaraj had obtained patta for a three cent poromboke land at the village.

The brothers put up a shed on the land which was questioned by Kanagaraj.

A wordy tiff broke out between them with Madhubalan and Durairaj coming in support of Kanagaraj.

The quarrel soon took a turn for the worse.

Arumugam and his brother were allegedly attacked by Kanagaraj and the other two with sharp weapons killing them on the spot.

The sources said Kanagaraj and Madhubalan who sustained injuries in the clash were admitted to Tiruchi Government Hospital while Durairaj had been detained by the police.

The Siruganur police have registered a case.
