A group of 74 Popular Front of India (PFI) members were arrested in the city on Thursday after they assembled to stage a demonstration to condemn the Centre for issuing the ban order. Police sources said the protesters including 21 women assembled at Prabhat roundabout in the evening to stage a demonstration for which permission was not granted by the police. The police arrested all of them as they assembled, the sources said.
