BHEL bags order to set up power plant in Madhya Pradesh

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has bagged an order for setting up a 50 MW Solar Photovoltaic (SPV) Power Plant in Madhya Pradesh on engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis.

Valued at Rs.282 crore, the order for setting up the Solar Power Plant at Mandsaur in Madhya Pradesh, has been placed on BHEL Corporation by NTPC Limited. The project is scheduled for completion in twelve months, according to a BHEL press release.

Earlier in the year, BHEL Corporation had bagged another EPC order from NTPC under domestic competitive bidding for setting up a 50 MW Solar Power Plant at Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh, which is currently under execution.

BHEL Corporation manufactures solar cells and modules at its Electronics Division unit in Bengaluru, while space-grade solar panels using high efficiency cells and space-grade Battery panels are manufactured at its Electronic Systems Division, also in Bengaluru.

In another press release, the power plant equipment manufacturing major said it has recorded the highest-ever commissioning of power projects and the highest order booking over in the last five years in 2015-16.

Enhanced focus on project execution has resulted in BHEL creating history by way of commissioning or synchronising an all-time high 15,059 MW of power generating equipment during the year.

Despite intense competition during the year, BHEL achieved the highest order booking in the last five years, at Rs.43,727 Crore, a 42 per cent increase over 2014-15. This comprises orders worth Rs.38,529 Crore in the power segment and Rs.5,125 crore in the industry segment. The company ended the year with a total order book of over Rs.1,10,000 crore, the release said.
