: By registering 93.52 percent, the district has improved its overall pass percentage in the Plus Two examinations.
With a 1.81 per cent improvement over the previous year, the district finished 14{+t}{+h}in the pass percentage among the districts in the State.
Out of 10,741 students, 10,045 emerged victorious. The overall pass percentage among the boys and girls were 91.51 and 95.38 respectively.

D. Sridarshini of P.A. Vidya Bhavan Matriculation School, Thalapatti, secured the district level first rank with 1189 marks out 1200. The second rank went to S. Vigneswaran of Bharani Park Matriculation School, Vennaimalai. He got 1187 marks. The third rank also went S.A. Mythili of Bharani Park Matriculation School.
In the government school category, R. Malini of Government Higher Secondary School, Manmangalam, secured the district first rank with 1142 marks. The second rank went to V. Selvamani of Government Higher Secondary School, Thammanaickenpatti. K. Akilandeswari of Government Higher Secondary School, Manmangalam, secured third rank.
A total of 33 schools produced cent per cent results. Of them, 11 were government schools.

Collector Kakarla Usha honoured the district toppers with shawls and books.
The district as a whole achieved a pass percentage of 86.80 in the Plus Two exams marginally bettering its last year's achievement of 86.45.
In all, 7,626 boys and 10,262 girls took the Plus Two exams from 127 schools in the district. Of them, 6,351 boys and 9,176 girls totalling 15,527 cleared the examination posting a pass percentage of 86.80 in the district.
In the Nagapattinam Education District, 7,314 students appeared for the exams of which 6,707 cleared the exam notching up a pass percentage of 91.7 and in the Mayiladuthurai Education District 10,574 students took the exams and of them 8,820 passed to clock 83.41 pass percentage.
Among the Aided School category, Nithyashree of the Best Matriculation HSS, Sirkali, scored 1,181 marks to become the district topper. She was followed by Hassana of Al Qadria HSS, Enangudi, who aggregated 1,180, and the third spot was bagged by Thulasi of ARC Kamakshi Matriculation HSS, Mayiladuthurai in getting 1,173 marks.
District Collector S. Palanisamy congratulated the district toppers for their achievement.
The district has registered a pass percentage of 84.18 in the Plus Two examinations the results of which were announced on Tuesday. Last year, it stood at 83.08 per cent pass.
Out of 13,921 students (5,839 boys and 8,082 girls) who appeared for the examinations, 4,566 boys and 7,153 girls came out successful (total 11,719).
S. Kavya of Rahmath Matriculation HSS, Muthupet, who scored 1,181 out of 1,200 marks, walked away with the district top honours followed by J. Venkateswaran (1,178 marks) of The Merit HSS, Sendamangalam, and R. Aiswarya (1,175 marks) of Sri Shanmuga Matriculations HSS, Mannargudi who bagged the second and third position.
Kavya’s father Sekar is doing stove repair works while her mother Muthukumari is a housewife. Kavya, who scored centum in Mathematics and Business Mathematics, hopes to make it to the Indian Administrative Services one day.
Venkateswaran’s father V.V. Jayaraman runs a printing press while mother Shanthi is a teacher with a private school in Nannilam. He aspires to become a cardiologist.
Among the government school students, I. Janaki of the Government HSS, Poonthottam, scored 1,146 to top the chart and was trailed by M. Mukilan (1,126 marks) of Government HSS, Ullikkottai, and K. Premi (1,101 marks) of Government Girls HSS, Koothanallur.
In the aided schools category, S. Ranganayaki (1,171 marks) of GRM Girls HSS, Tiruvarur, won the top spot followed by Harshini (1,162) of St. Joseph's Girls HSS, Mannargudi, and Seethalakshmi (1,161) of GRM Girls HSS, Tiruvarur, logged the third position.
