An awareness programme on JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) conducted at National Institute of Technology - Tiruchi (NITT) recently benefited thousands of school students in the central districts.
Titled 'Dhisai', the initiative carried out under the aegis of Pragyan, the technology festival of NITT, was structured to illuminate students’ mind on choosing the correct path to academic excellence and a good career.
Both the visiting students and the teachers were oriented during the programme supported by the School Education Department on how JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) paves the way for admission into India’s premier institutes such as IITs and NITs.

The day-long awareness campaign started off with an audio visual of freshers of NITT talking about their experiences with JEE for providing an insight into the admission process and the gravity of the entrance exam.
The major part of the briefing revolved around highlighting the right strategies to be followed while preparing for the exam.
The visiting students were taken on a campus tour covering various places such as the Departments of Physics and Chemistry, SCIENT, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, the Central Workshop, the library, the robotic arc welding lab, and the computer centre.

In the physics and chemistry departments, a set of basic science experiments were conducted for the students by the research scholars. In the SCIENT, a racing car produced by PSI - the official motorsports club of NIT,Tiruchi, - was on display. Solar panels on the rooftops of the buildings housing the Department of EEE were also shown.
