Navarathiri is round the corner and it is time to get ready to do up the house with golu dolls.
As people start dusting old dolls and look for new ones, the Thanjavur Handicrafts Industrial Co-operative Society has got up a gollu dolls exhibition at Sangeetha Mahal at the Palace Complex here.
Dolls prepared by artisans from Thanjavur, Madurai, Cuddalore, Kanchipuram, and Mayiladuthurai are on display at the exhibition.

Unique among the dolls are those that explain moral stories, cricket set dolls, and market place scenes. Mysore dasara, Sri Rangam Ranganathar, Seethakalyanam, Panchamukha anjaneyar, Valli Kalyanam, Bishmar set, village set, Azhagar atril iranguthal, Garuda sevai, Aandal jananam, Sakkarathalvar, Kondapalli dolls, and Kolkatta dolls beckon the enthusiastic collectors. A sales target of Rs 25 lakh has been fixed for the exhibition this year. N. Subbaiyan, District Collector, who inaugurated the exhibition on Saturday, appealed to people to utilise the opportunity and patronise the cooperative society.
The exhibition will be open from 10 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. till October 2.
