Alluring dolls beckon visitors

Navarathiri kolu exhibition is underway at the Poompuhar showroom of the Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd on Gandhiji road in the town. People can purchase a variety of dolls at the exhibition. K.Anbu, Professor, Kundavai Nachiyar Government Arts College for Women, inaugurated the exhibition on Friday .

According to K.Chimabaranathan, Manager, Poompuhar showroom, dolls displayed in the exhibition include Dasavatharam set, Ayyappan set, Alwar set, Music concert set, Ammankoil set, Parathasarathy set, Perumal-Thayar set, Thiruparkadal set, Ramar set, Agriculture set, Panchavadi set, Dakshinamurthy set, Uri set, Mumoorthy set, Ashtalakshmi set, Satyanarayana set, Kalyana set, Krishna Musical set, Vinayagar Musical set, Kathakali set, and Yanai Musical set.

Dolls brought from Kolkatta, Mumbai, Tiruchi, Mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur, Dindigul, and Cuddalore were on display . A sales target of Rs.6 lakh has been fixed for the exhibition and Rs.20 lakh worth dolls are exhibited.

Price of the dolls varies from Rs. 15 to Rs. 30,000.The exhibition is open till October 6, on all days including Sundays. The timing is from 10 a.m.to eight p.m.
