AKC Natarajan honoured

Trichy Carnatic Musicians, a facebook group, honoured clarinet exponent AKC Natarajan with “TCM Lifetime Achievement Award at Vaibhav 2015,” its annual celebrations here on Sunday.

N. Gopalaswamy, Director, Dalmia Cement Bharat Ltd, presented the award. He recalled the performance of Mr. Natarajan at Dalmiapuram and said he respected true followers and played for long hours even for a small audience. It showed his magnanimity. Music captivates everyone. Researchers have proved that music can cure many diseases. Neelambari ragam is reported to cure insomnia. Boopalam ragam has soothing effect.

Ambujam Vedantham, senior vocalist, said Mr. Natarajan had donated the golden clarinet presented to him to war fund.

He has the magnanimity to appreciate young artists and encourage them. He is also a vocalist.

Prema Nandakumar, writer, said Mr. Natarajan mesmerises the audience with his music. He is a good singer and can sing some ragas for hours together.

Life history of such people should be documented. She urged TCM to document the music of various musicians.

S. Rengarajan, mridangam artist, said Mr. Natarajan was very punctual. He encouraged young artists.

Mr. Natarajan urged the youth to learn music along with their studies.

Vocalists K. Ramesh and Kashyap Mahesh participated in the function.
