AIADMK candidates enter the fray in Tiruchi district

Most candidates reached the election offices in a synchronised manner

AIADMK candidates for all the nine Assembly constituencies in the district on Thursday, the penultimate day for filing of nominations, filed their papers.

In a synchronised action, all the AIADMK candidates trooped in to file their nominations at around 12.50 p.m. apparently on the instructions of the party high command.

Prominent among those who filed their nominations were R. Manoharan, Chief Whip in the State Assembly, for Tiruchi West constituency, S. Valarmathi for Srirangam, and R. Chandrasekar for Manapparai, the three MLAs who have been re-nominated. Mr. Manoharan represents Tiruchi East in the present Assembly. The other AIADMK candidates included N. Natarajan for Tiruchi East, D. Kalaiselvan for Tiruverumbur, M. Vijayamurthy for Lalgudi, M. Selvarasu for Musiri, A. Maivizhi for Thuraiyur, and M. Parameswari for Manachanallur.

As many as 71 nominations were received during the day, taking the number of nominations to 135. A few candidates have filed multiple nominations. Friday is the last date for filing of nominations, which will be taken up for scrutiny the next day.
