AIADMK candidate files nomination for by-election

Declares total assets worth about Rs.67.50 lakhs

The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate for the by-election to the Tiruchi West Assembly constituency M.Paranjothi filed his nomination papers here on Wednesday.

Accompanied by N.R.Sivapathi, Minister for Animal Husbandry, P.Kumar, MP and R.Manoharan, MLA and urban district secretary, AIADMK, Mr.Paranjothi filed three sets of nomination papers before K.Sampath, Revenue Divisional Officer and Returning Officer of the constituency.

Mr.Paranjothi, in his affidavit, has declared total assets worth about Rs.67.50 lakhs in his name, his wife and dependents, including movable assets worth about Rs.27.11 lakhs and immovable assets worth about Rs.40.38 lakhs.

Mr.Paranjothi and his supporters garlanded the statue of former Chief Minister M.G.Ramachandran at Cantonment before filing his nominations.

Monitoring committee

A four-member Media Certification and Monitoring Committee has been formed to screen and certify advertisements to be given by candidates contesting the by-elections to the Tiruchi West Assembly constituency.

The committee will be headed by P.Manickam, District Revenue Officer, and all advertisements should be certified by the committee before release.

Advertisements by candidates of recognised national and regional political parties should be submitted to the committee three days in advance and those given by registered unrecognised parties should be submitted seven days in advance to the committee.

Copies of the advertisements in compact disc and hard copies should be submitted to the committee.

The committee is empowered to make changes or delete objectionable portions if any, Collector Jayashree Muralidharan said in a press release.
