The Aided College Teachers’ Association (ACTA) has urged the Central Government to provide complete funding to the State for implementing the revised pay scales.
At its State-level executive meeting conducted here recently to deliberate on the proposed revision of pay scale for college and university teachers, the association emphasised on the need for the Central Government to provide entire financial assistance to the State for at least 10 years, to facilitate full-fledged implementation of the revised pay scales.
The association took a view that the letter by MHRD to UGC on the proposed revision reflected injustice to the teaching community, and questioned the lack of transparency in the process of implementation.

The letter indicates payment of arrears, due with effect from January 1, 2016, only to the extent of certain percentages.
The concept of arrears is that it is a delayed payment of the due salary and not any ex-gratia, ACTA General Secretary A. Sahaya Satish said in a press release.
In the past, the report of Pay Revision Committee used to be given to teachers’ organisations for eliciting their response. The ACTA strongly believes that the UGC will provide copies of the PRC report along with the draft proposal of UGC, the release said.
