Unauthorised structures in front of shops removed

Continuing their drive against shopkeepers putting up unauthorised structures in front of their shops at city’s main commercial centres, the corporation authorities removed such illegal structures along NSB Road and Nandhi Kovil Street here on Friday.

Structures put up an extension of shops along the two roads were removed during the drive. The drive was carried out from the Mainguard Gate to the Rockfort and on Nandhikovil Road stretch up to Chathram. An official said unauthorised structures put up by about 200 shops were removed during the operation carried out with police protection.

Innasimuthu, Assistant Commissioner, Srirangam zone, and P.Sivapatham, Assistant Executive Engineer, Town Planning, supervised the operation. A few days back, a similar eviction drive was carried out by the corporation officials along Karur Bypass Road in the city.
