Six-day exhibition of Tiruchi SHG products

A six-day exhibition of products made by women’s neighbourhood groups and women savings and thrift groups formed under Swarna Jayanthi Shahari Rozgar Yojana in the city opened near Anna Nagar Uzhavar Sandhai on Wednesday.

The exhibition features 31 stalls displaying cloth bags, soap, candles, eatables, dress materials and other products made by the groups. The exhibition at drinking water overhead tank complex adjacent to Uzhavar Sandhai intended to provide a marketing avenue for products made by the urban groups. Group members were also provided expert assistance on obtaining loans for their ventures. The exhibition will be open till December 10 from 11.30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Collector Jayashree Muralidharan, Mayor A.Jaya, and Corporation Commissioner V.P.Thandapani, visited the exhibition. A dengue awareness camp has also been organised at the venue. Awareness and cultural shows would be organised in the evenings, Mr.Thandapani said in a release.
