Rs.40 lakh allotted for improving surface of Tiruchi railway station platforms

Manjula Rangarajan, Divisional Railway Manager, inspected ongoing development works at Tiruchi railway junction recently.

Accompanied by A.S.Abdul Rahman, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, and other top officials, the DRM inspected the work of an additional entry and approach work related to additional entry and approach road to circulating area, which are in progress at an outlay of Rs.86.51 lakh.

Over 75 per cent of the work on this project had already completed.

Vacuum dewatering surface

The Railways has allotted Rs.40 lakh for improving the surface of platform 1, 1A, 2, 3 and 4, and providing them with vacuum dewatering concrete surface.

The work is progressing at a fast pace.

The junction is expected to get a facelift once the ongoing works on upgrading platform 6 and 7 are completed.

Ms.Rangarajan inspected both the platforms and track upgrade work by walking up to the Viralimalai road overbridge point.

Another major work in progress in Tiruchi junction is the provision of shelters for bays on platform no.1. The work has been taken up at a cost of Rs.30 lakh.

All these works are expected to be completed shortly, say railway officials.
